Baby Maker or just plain selfish?
San Jose Mercury News reported on Mother's day, a family who had 18 children. The father and mother are the same, and the age range of the children are from 20 years of age to 9 months old. The mother said she was "blessed to be pregnant again." This mother has been pregnant or post pardom for 21 years. How do the children sleep? Travel to school ? Eat? Are they on welfare or wealthy beyond measure? This begs the question, " Are you selfishly procreating?" What about college for all these children? (I want to know how the parents are paying for these kids to grow up into productive members of society.) When asked, the parents said, "This must be God's plan." When I read stories like this and turn the page to see earthquake victims in a country like China, where babies are limited to 1 per family, and those children are lost forever, it makes me angry, sad, and confused. I struggle to understand this family's blind ignorance, and lack of social responsiblity. While I do not advocate government mandating babies, I do think that parent's should be socially responsible, and think about their communities. Do you agree?
