  1. Water is a big importance to the world and everyone in it, without it everyone would die from dehydration and starvation since plants need it to grow and animals also need it to survive. People in Zambia have the Victoria Falls so its kinda hard for them to run out of water but for some countries that are more in the desert areas its harder for them to live because of drout.

  2. water to me is important because with out water we can die of thirst nd if we didnt have food. Food products are important just like water. and as i can see in africa in north africa, ect its worst there cause they don't even have any clean water i would like to donate.

  3. Water is very important to many people and without it people would not be able to survive. Everything in the world needs it to be able to survive. The water makes plants and animals grow. This is what keeps people alive. For people in Africa, people are in disparate need for water. People that live in other countries and places are not in as big as a drought in Africa than where they are living. Also, people in Africa can not even take showers regularly because they do not have enough water. Animals there are even dieing because there is so little water.

  4. Water means alot to those in Africa. Without their rainfalls their crops and food they nlive off of will die. This is a cause for starvation and many kids and people die due to lack of food. Drouts could also be caused due to no rainfalls.Their animals die and they have no herds to live off of. Water means alot to me without it I could become dehydrated and cant live. Water is used to cook bathe and meet my necessities and it is a big impact on my daily lifestyle.

  5. Water is a major nessesity, to everyone, everywhere. We can only live a short time without water, but we can survive up to a week or more with out food. We need water to supply our food. Farms can not survive without water. An average person needs about eight glasses of water a day. But because of droughts and extreme climate change, some parts of Africa are left without a drop of water, causing crops, cattle, and wild animals to die. People are so desperate for food and water there, that they are froced to resort to the killing of elephants for recourses, which are known as sacred animals in Africa. People in Africa also appreciate the value of water because their water supply is so limited. To me, water is important in order for humans to thrive, but I do think that I don't appereciate it as much as the people in Africa do, for my water is unlimited.

  6. Water to me is used to wash my hands, take a shower, go to the bathroom, and drink. I don't pay much attention to the amount of water I use everyday.

I think water means a lot more to Africans than to Americans. On the website you posted, i decided to check out Cape Verde. It says that it consists of 10 islands. Cape Verde is out at sea and is surrounded by water and still only gets 10 inches of rain every year. That is not very much.

  7. WATER! Water for me means everything because I think without water we would all die. Plus we wouldn't have forests, oceans, animals crops, or other beautiful things. Also I think the whole entire world should try not to waste a lot water and be limited. For example in Africa a lot of people are dying because there is no food or water to drink. They don't have water to plant their crops, drink or even take a shower because it does not rain too often.

  8. I grew up in a place where water was always available but I still know how important water is for every living thing on earth. Without it we would die of dehydration. Africa has very scarce water sources and most of their fresh water is contaminated. This means that most of their cattle and crop will absorb the contamination and get sick and die, or get humans sick.

  9. Water is one of the more important things in life. Without it we would not be able to surrvive. Water is less important here because we have so much of it. In Africa though, water is scarce in some areas and not taken for granted.

  10. Water is one of the many things the planet need to survive and without which we would all ceas to exist. To me water most of the time seamed unimportant. I used so much water that it never acurred to me that it all just could go away and that dumping a bottle of watter that you left on the counter for the day would ever be considere wastfull. Some parts of africa they don't even have enough water to even fill a bottle with clear clean water. Water is more precious to those in africa then it is to us.

  11. Without water, I probably would have never even lived. If there just became no water right now, I do not see how I could live so long. My lips would be very chapped. I would have to put chapstick on every day to replace water. Water also helps me concentrate on other things. In Africa, not so similar to us, people are dying for water. They have to walk some 3,000 miles just to get but a single drink. Africa actually has its advantages with less water because it is more of a charity that people are giving more water to.

  12. Where we live we have the ability to pretty much have as much water as we need. We take that for granite because in Africa they don't have that ability. They have very limited water and they get by without it. For Americans and people who have that water everyday we would probably die without that extra water that we have because we aren't used to that but in Africa to have water like we have would be one of the best moments of their lives. They aren't as lucky as we are but still they don't complain.

  13. Water is very important to me because i need it to survive. Every day i carry a bottle of water with me. We can just go get water so easy anywhere but in africa its different. People in africa have to walk miles just to get some fresh water. They have to live in a hot dry climate with very little water. I think in the united states we take water for granite.

  14. Water is the key thing to all life. Humans and animals need it or we will die of thirst and dehydration, and plants need it to grow and flourish. In the United States, water is really easy to get and I think most of us take it for granted. People in Africa do not have nearly as much water as we do. Some of the water in Africa is contaminated and animals and cattle that drink it will get sick and die. Water is very scarce in Africa and they value it much more than we do.

  15. Water is a very important part of every species life. without water nothing would exist. In the U.S. we take water for granite. Niger is twice the size of Texas and 90% of the people live in desert where their is no water. They have to walk in very hot conditions just to get water to survive.

  17. Water for me is not a problem. I have no worries in the world about if there will be enough water for the next day. In Africa thats a completely different story. People don't have enough water to hydrate themselves let alone animals and crops rely on only rainfall. People who live in more of the north have less rainfall as to the south where its tropical. If the north is to grow crops it has to be a fast growing crop like millet or rice because north only has a selective time for when they have rain and water to grow there crops.

  18. Without water we would all die. I wonder if people even think about the lives they will be affecting when they pollute the water. If you think about it we drink a certain amount of water a day people in Africa probably drink twice as much as we do and we are over there polluting there water. They barely have any water. some people have to walk for miles a day just to get enough water to Keep them alive.

  19. Water is very important to the environment and the people. Without water the environment will not survive; without the environment (and water) the people and animals will not survive. The north region of Ghana goes 8 months without rainfall, it's a struggle for them to get water everyday.

  20. Water is one of the most important things in life because you need it to live! In the area of the world where I live in, water can be accessed mostly anywhere. There are water fountains at parks, and multiple faucets in households and I personally think that our area takes the access we have to water for granite. In Africa, people have to walk miles and miles just to get some water, not even fresh or purified as we have it here. Their amount of water in comparison to ours is insanely huge, which makes lives even tougher for the people living in Africa.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Water is very important to me because I use much of it everyday, and if I didn't have any I would be lost. Most children in America grow up with plenty water around them, however, this is not the case in Africa. Most people don't have clean water. In Africa due to the hot weather it may not rain for a long time, resulting in no fresh water.

  22. Yes, basically water is what our body needs every single day to survive. I believe that if we never had water none of us wouldn't be here right now. Water is what our body needs and if we don't give our boy what it needs than we are not doing a great job of taking care of ourselves!

  23. To us, water is something that we always have. It isn't something that we need to work for, or draw from a well like people in other places. We used it to drink, bathe, wash clothes, and more. People in Africa don't have as much water as we do. They don't use it to flush toilets, or shower multiple times a day. They draw it from a well sometimes miles away from where they live, then bring it back and use as little as possible for drinking and washing clothes.

  24. Water is very important to me. I don't know what i would do without water because we need water to drink, eat food, and to take showers, etc. People in Africa go days or even months without water and us who live in America couldn't last without water for a day. I don't know how the people in Africa go a day without water, but they do. Also the people in Africa don't have clean water. They share there water with everything else they need water for. I am very grateful for having clean water, and just water period!

  25. Water is a very important resource to me. I need water to live my life. I use it everyday for thing like drinking, washing your hands, and many other things. I need water everyday in order to live my life to the fullest.

Africans also need water. It is very important to them because they do not have access to water like we do. When they do get water they appreciate it for what it is unlike us who take water for granted.

  26. In Africa water means so much more to them then to people in the U.S. In Togo water is never wasted. Water is used to wash hands and clean dishes. Many families in Togo have their gardens irrigated with the water used from their showers. This is called a runoff. There are also rain gutters on the roof to catch the rainfall and channel it into a barrel. During the rainy season buckets and water basins outside are also used to catch the runoff water from the roofs. In the U.S. we take water for granted and its handed to us all the time. We turn the sink on or the shower and water comes out whenever we want. In Africa water is thought of as a blessing and no drop is ever wasted.

  27. In America we waste so much water doing useless things like taking 30 minute showers instead of 5 minute showers, letting the water run while brushing our teeth, watering the plants and lawn, etc. In Africa they have barley enough water to drink, they have to take showers and baths in the nearest river with all the other people and animals, so there are poop and dirt from the other people and animals floating down the river that you are bathing in.

  28. Well for me water does not mean to much for me because in this country u can get water everywhere and its not a struggle just to get water here like it is in africa. But in africa a lot of people die because the lack of water they have in their country

  29. Water is really important to everything living in the world. We use water everyday, and it's needed to survive. Countries like Africa don't have as much water as America, so if we conserve water, there will be more water for other people.

  30. To me water is very important. I use water everyday and so do most americans. Almost every American uses water for drinking, cooking and to bathe. With out water it would be very hard for us. Thats why it is very hard to belive that people in africa can go with out water for days or even months. Thats why im greatful for having water.

  31. We need water for our daily living and luckily we have easy access to it. We have almost everything in easy reach that we take our most important need, water, for granted. We need water to drink, to clean our clothes, to cook our food, to wash our dishes, to wash our hands, to wash our cars, and more. A good percentage of people in America never think about what they would do if they didn't have water. In Africa, it is a great success if you have just a little amount of water. People have to travel miles to find water and carry it on their shoulders on the way back. There is so little water that they use the river or stream to do everything they have to with water, like getting it for cooking, going to the bathroom in it, to wash themselves and more. This creates unhealthy water that is on the people and the water is unhealthy that they cook there food in, so they eat the food and many diseases form. Americans have to realize how lucky they are to have such easy access to water.

  32. Water is a huge necesity to everyone and everthing. To me water is valuable becuse we use it for cooking, cleaning, for industry and for agricultural purposes. Without water we will die and cannot enjoy the use of water. To africans water is sacred and is not a luxury. They do not tret water like we do and do not waste hundreds of gallons by doing wasteful things with it. They value there water more then us and can not imagine using water the way we do

  33. Water could easily be called one of the most important things on earth. Without water we wouldn't be able to survive. In fact, the human body contains nearly 75% water, so without it, our bodies wouldn't be able to perform necessary functions and we would eventually die of dehydration. In America we are lucky to have such a large supply or water but some places aren't as lucky. Some places in Africa can get as little as 1 inch of rainfall per year and are forced to find another source of irrigation, they may have to travel miles just to get water to drink.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Water. An extremely common daily need for people. Unfortunately, you can't say the same for people in africa. They have to walk miles just to get one bucket of water and walk back miles again. This is something they do everyday just to get water. Water to them means their lives. We american people just see water as a common thing we have access to easily. We, compared to africa, are extremely spoiled.

    ReplyDelete
  35. In America we don't really pay attention to how much water we use.In Africa they try to use less water. Here in America we take as much time as we want in the showers and we don't realize how much water we waste on showers that could take less time.I think by looking at the struggles of Africa and how their life is hard we can be more appreciative.

  36. To me water is cold, hot, and the best of nature's resources. Water helps fight a hot day with just one glass of cool cold water. Is better to shower in hot/cold water to keep it equal. Is the original drink that helps you stay hydrated and it has no chemicals in it. It's plain natural but humans use way too much and are polluting the water. A lot of people in America just waste water by washing their cars, watering their gardens, and showering. Kenya collect their water from gutter and takens that are nearby them. Climate change has shortened the rainy seasons. So now they bring water from the river that is extremely dirty because all the human and cttle waste has polluted the water. So they use a substabe call alum which makes the water semi-clear water. It's clear that some people in Africa would give up their hands for some water.

  37. water is very important , we use water for many things. we don't really worry that we wont have water the next day because we always have water , but in Africa they don't have clean water like we do and the amount of water they have is less than the amount of water we have. i think here in America we are lucky that we have clean water everyday.

  38. Water means alot to me because without it you wouldnt be able to survive. We can find water in alot of places in the world but in Africa its another story. In Africa they are in a big drought. we have oceans and rivers that we can use to filter water to drink and cook with. In Africa they dont have the technology to filter water so they use dirty water to do all the things we use water for.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Water is important to me because i need water to survive in life. Without water I wouldnt be able to take a shower and keep myself hydrated. People in Africa struggle everyday because they go months without water and I use water like every 30 second. I am very thankful for water and if i had to chose between soda and water I would chose water in a heartbeat! I LOVE WATER!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Water for the average American is so everyday we waste it blindly and use appiences that use gallons of water in seconds. People in Africa get by on one gallon of water a day. While America has a surplus of water we over use way too much.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Water is essential for survival in every part of the world. People in America take things for granted, including water. We have access to clean water through water systems and irrigation. In Africa, the climate is very hot and their supply of water is limited. Most Africans have to walk miles to find water. Not only do they drink the water, but they use the same water in the rivers to bathe themselves, their animals, and wash their clothes. Water is important for survival but we take it for granted. While others have to work alot harder for it.

  42. Water, to me and to everyone, means everything. We all use water so much in everyday life. We use it to drink, to shower, to water our lawn, to do many things. For people in Africa, its a completely different world with water. They struggle just to get water. Its easier for them from November to March, but at that time, even though its rainfall season, they still dont get that much. When its not those months, the weather is hot and dry and windy, which creates sandstorms and makes many tasks difficult, especially to get water.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Water to me is just another thing. I can't go through the day without having more than 4 water bottles. We use water everyday if we didn't have fresh water the world would just collapse. We still take water for granite we abuse our water supplies by not shutting our water off when we're brushing our teeth or taking to long of showers. To people in Africa water means the world. We take showers everyday they might be lucky to take one per week. We use water for cooking food they don't. Without it their crop or animals may die is those thing die then they can't feed their families so they start to die because of starvation.

    ReplyDelete
  44. what water means to me is life without it i would not survive another day on earth nobody would. In are everyday lives we use water people in america waste water use a lot people in africa need water many places are in a drought and have very little we take showers everyday people there are lucky to take one once a week they don't have running water in most places they have to got walk miles for it and they use a lot of it.We need water to drink make and cook are food. The world would die without water it helps crops grow and every human body and animal needs water to live.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Water is very important to me. Without water life on Earth would not be possible. I have running water that i have access to 24/7 unlike the people in Africa. Many parts of Africa get little to no rainfall. Many people in those parts are dyeing because of dehydration and starvation due to crops not being able to grow.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Water is very important because the human body runs off of it. We need to cut down on our water supply because we use to much. We wash our hands in water and wash cars in water. Water is very use full to us and we use a big proportions of it. If we didn't have it we would die very fast. Even plants drink from water in order to grow.

  47. Kendall3, Anthony3, Gillian3, Kyla3December 2, 2009 at 11:03 AM

Gillian3 said that retrieving water is no problem for her and she can get it as frequently as she likes. While Tiffany3 points out that water is the key to all life. Both are very good points because they both then explain how africa is a completely different story and they have a limited water supply. Gillian3 says that people who live in the North have less rainfall than the south where it's tropical and she then tells us that if the North wants to grow crops they have to be fast growing crops like millet or rice because the North only has a selective time for when they have rain and water to grow their crops. Tiffany3 says that most of us who have water at the drop of a hat take it for granted, and that the little water that there is in Africa is contaminated and animals and cattle that drink it will get sick and die.

I agree with what Yolanda 3 said about water. Water does means everything to us as human beings. And what Yolanda said if we didn't have water we wouldn't have beautiful things such as Tree's and Ocean's. Where grateful for water and for all the creative things that water has done to our mother earth!

  49. I agree with Tarilyn3 bceause I like what she wrote how "water is very important to many people." Without water we would be died. Pretty much everything wouldn't exist. I think we should be thankful what God gave us and live life. Also try to SAVE WATER!!!!
