Syria and Turkey

Iraq-Turkey

bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8518109.stm From Berlin to Baghdad Railway

Having overcome its fear of Kurdish nationalism, Turkey now does about $10bn of trade with Iraq's Kurdish regional government every year - about 80% of goods sold there are Turkish.

Relations between Iraq and Syria are more fragile - in the past Syria has been accused of backing the insurgents behind several big bomb attacks in Iraq.

But trade between them - and between Syria and Turkey - is growing rapidly.

Describe what you think of this new railway possibility and how it will change the cultures.

  1. The railway is a great way to do trade. It will help all the countries that are involved in using the railway. Not only will it increase trade but it can also help the relationships between the countries. The railway may also change the culture because the goods the train carries are from different countries which means that the people may pick the culture of those other countries.

  2. The railway will connect countries and contribute to the fast-growing trade between them. The railway can change the culture because goods being carried to other countries can teach people about other cultures and their ways of living may spread.

We think that the railway will really help with trade. All of the countries that are around that can use the railways to speed up trade and also make it grow more which will increase the economy in all of the countries.

  5. This is a good way to trade. Many people use the railway everyday. Soon everything that people have will be traded because either someone like something better or it's more useful than what they have. This falls into their cultures changing because its a new introduction to tools food or even jobs that could either improve some lives or wreck them. As it grows new things come and they go so eventually it will expand. This is a good benifit

The railway will connect counties which will lead to diverse population, and fast-growing trade. This railroad could be a good thing for the country or could not be as it could cause disagreements and problems between the countries; however, it will connect the countries, so they will adapt some of each countries cultures.

  7. Re-opening the railway is a very smart move because it helps trade. The railway connecting Berlin to Baghdad is 500km (311 miles). It is very slow and it runs through Syria, crossing two international borders. baghdadinvest.com have said "the revived rail link symbolises the increasing close ties between the three countries." The trade between Syria and Turkey is growing rapidly. Turkey is gradually upgrading its railway network with high-speed routes and Iraq also plans big investments in its railways.

  8. I think that opening the railway will help to induce the trade and make it more convenient for the traders to travel that land. this will also give the traders more time to trade. this is a good step in an agricultural gain it will make these countries able to receive goods at a faster rate.

  9. Having a railway is a really convenient way to trade. It's much more efficient and fast than many methods that the country has used in the past. Both Iraq and Turkey hope the re-opening of the historic rail link will contribute to the fast-growing trade between them... But the two recent conflicts in Iraq have taken a toll on the rail network. There has been no regular service to neighboring countries since the 1980's.

  10. I believe that the railway is a good idea. Trade will increase which will increase ties with Syria and Iraq. Trade between Syria and Iraq is already growing rapidly and this railway seems to only help business, trade, and the relationship not only Iraq and Syria but other middle eastern countries as well. The Turkish government is also talking of a fast rail link running all the way to Pakistan. These new railways will increase middle eastern ties.

  11. The new railway has made a big impact on others and how some of the things may go together. People who may be doing things like trade would make life easier for them by not having to travel by some other transportation. It may make a big difference on other cultures because it can increase the population of the eastern ties in relation to other places.

We think a railway will be a good thing because it will improve the speed of trading from the Europe to the Arabian Peninsula. Although helpful, there might be many problems caused by the railway. It might cause cultures such as, Iraq and Turkey who don't already have a formal railway. The railway will be easily targeted by the terrorists in Iraq and Turkey, causing tension between the two countries. In the end, this new transportation system will be beneficial to all countries that the railway passes through.

We think that the railway would be a great way to trade betwen Syria and Turkey. It would increase the number ammount of trade between Syria and Turkey. The railway would help alot of people because it would make there life alot easier. The railway would also help change peoples life's because they wouldn't have to travel that much to trade their goods. It would change to al, types of cultures because the population could either increase or decrease on the number amount of people.

  14. A new railway would increase trade between Syria and Turkey. It would be easier to travel to other countries like that. They would bond together better. This would benefit the cultures. The more trades you make, the better you make your economy. If you do not believe a trade would help your economy, decline it. As for other countries, they would be giving Syria and Turkey attention for making a lot of trades. The nations other than Syria and Turkey would become jealous and would like to help their economies.

I think the new railway will benefit and increase the trade between the countries. It will be easier to transport goods, even if it moves slow it's a start. It can help build trust between the countries. As long as no terrorist groups interfere with the railway things should run smoothly between the countries with no conflicts.

Trade between Syria and Turkey would be an important aid to their economy. The railroad needed to contribute to the fast-growing trade was built by Germany from Berlin to Baghdad a century ago. The two recent disagreements in Iraq have taken a toll on the rail network. With the revival of the railroad network, it will link and symbolize the close ties between the three countries. Generally, trading with other countries is beneficial for the economies. Diverse resources allow the economy to have diverse jobs, resulting in a well-rounded economy. So overall, the railroad will benefit Syria and Turkey.http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8518109.stm

We believe that it benefits everyone because than there will be a lot more trade between the countries and it'll help the delicacies get from place to place with out breaking. It will also increasingly close ties between the three countires; Iraq,Turkey, and Germany. It also should be well working since it took 3 decades to make.

  18. I think the new railway will be good for both Countries because it will be easier for Turkey and Iraq to exchange goods without entering each others blocks. It can help each Countries with the terrorism and the trust between each countries. Even though the railway may be slow it's still helping both countries to interact again.

  19. The new railway is a great idea for transportation in the country. Also the railway can help promote trade which can create more cultural diffusion. This rail way can bring the countries close together and make them forget of what has happened in the past.
