  1. Two global events that have affected me are the global economy tanking and the war in the Middle East. The war in the Middle East has sent some of my friends and their siblings into the war in Middle East or at least close to going to the Middle East as they finish their training. This has also affected me in the sense that I once wanted to join the Army and be in the reserves or stay stateside but now that our country is at war, there would be an actual more likely chance of me going over seas to fight and for a long period of time. This has led me to not join the Army or anything of that matter at this time. Which has changed my whole thinking process on how I will pay my way through schooling and when I finish school and get my professional career. The global economy has driven me broke and made me struggle to pay for all of my stuff. It has given me little to no hours at work causing me to search for another job. With little to no hours at work I all of a sudden can’t afford to buy things at the scale I once used to like food, clothes, etc. I also can’t afford to maintain things that I once was able to, for instance if I don’t get enough money to fix my car, I will then have to sell it. If I do eventually fix it, by the time I fix it gas prices are back on the rise and I won’t be able to drive it as much. Either way if I sell it I will be at a loss of what I’ve invested into the car but if I keep it I will have to continue to cut back on spending in order to keep on maintenance and bills for my car. This poor state of the global economy has also affected me in the area of struggling more to pay my way through school after high school and moving out of my parents’ house more than I would’ve if it were a good economy.

  2. Unemployment has affected my life in the way that many of my family members are unemployed and are trying to find a job but cant because its so hard to find one now a days. Economy and the housing has affected my life as well because we basically lost our house and the economy isn't making it any better because prices on stuff is rising and its getting hard to pay the rent and buy our needs at the same time.

  3. Most of the times I do have concern about why does most of our global event involve violence, destruction, riots, etc. But you know it is kind of hard for those who do not see that our world may be a steak, and that they just live life how it is, and they live as if they don't have to do anything about it.(which they really don't) But sooner or later those who don't care may regret that they should of had done something.

  4. Today's economic crisis has recently had a huge influence on my life. College always seemed to be a guarantee until college became so expensive. I always wanted to go to a UC but I didn't even bother applying to one since there would be no way my family could afford it. I've worked consistently since mid-sophomore year to save for college but it just isn't enough. If my grades weren't limiting my future enough, the cost to go to college has basically limited me to solely a CSU. Not that there's anything wrong with a CSU, but they have become so impacted that it will take five years to graduate. This economy is making college too expensive for so many people, which in result will cause more poverty since it is very difficult to make it without a college degree.
Another global issue that has been affecting me is the rising cost of gasoline. I drive a car in order to get to school and work and gas is making it really expensive.

  5. The Holocaust has effected my life because it forced my great grandparents and grandparents to move away from their home in Russia to the United States. By them being forced out of their homes it has created a feeling in our family that it is ok to move away for the better. This is why both my parents moved away from home to go to college and why I'll be doing the same in the fall. The economy is another global event that has had an impact on my life. Even though I haven't had to change my lifestyle because of it it has effected the people around me. My grandmother made a point to save money all her life for me and my sister, when we were born she made college funds for us. Since she saved money I'm not stressing out with most of the people who are about to graduate. I'm not afraid of the changes that are ahead because I know I'm set thanks to my grandmother.

  6. The recent economic recession is perhaps the most significant global event of my young life, in the sense that it had a direct and palpable impact on my life. I have had immense difficulty finding employment and maintaining any kind of steady income. In addition, my family and friends have been forced to make difficult fiscal decisions, most often in the form of cuts to personal expenses. I also worry about making enough money to work my way through college in the near future, and the inevitable loan repayments that will follow. While it appears that the economy is on the rise, the effects of this recession will certainly endure.

The tsunami of 2004, in south-east Asia, was another global event that had a deep, emotional impact on my life. I was relatively young at the time, but I can still remember the incredibly anxious, grief-stricken, and tragic atmosphere that surrounded the incident. I can recall thinking to myself, how is it possible for 300,000 people to be wiped out in the blink of an eye? It was a very profound, yet deeply devastating period of my life.

  7. I think that the two biggest issues that affect me in some way would be, first, how the global economy which has made it difficult for both the people around me, but as well as myself, to find work and make money to buy things necessary to have a life in todays modern world. A second global event that is affecting me as well as other people would be the stepping down of Egypt's president Hosni Mubarak. This affects the people around me because it, in a way, takes their mind off the things that are happening around them here in the states and helps people, as well as myself, to realize how lucky they are to be able to live in such a secure country.

  8. One global event that has affected my life is the bad economy. This has affected my life when it comes to schools because I may not get into schools I normally would have because they can no longer afford to accept as many students as normal. It just so happens that I am applying to colleges at the time that this is happening and prices to go to school are rapidly increasing.
Another global event that has affected my life is the war. Two of my closest friends are in the army so things that happen in the war affect me because it involves them and determines where they will be and what they will be doing. It also affects me because since one of them as been gone, I’ve been helping out his family at home with a number of things because he used to have a big role at home helping out his family.

  9. The tragedy that occurred in New York on September 11th, 2011 is the only global event that really affected me. The attack on the twin towers was the first time i ever saw my father cry. This event effected me in the way that I grew up. There comes a pivotal time in a young boy's life when he starts seeing problems in the world. Whether it is his mother's drinking problem or his Grandpas death, the time will come in young adolescence. All up until this time, he is a carefree kid, and this event marks the beginning of the end of childhood. When i woke up that morning for school, my pop wasn't up stairs making oatmeal like usual. I walked into his room, and he didn't hold anything back. He cried, and told me no lies. I started to understand at that moment what life is about, and what it is to be a man. My father taught me then it is okay for a man to cry, and that life is not care free. My little toy remote control car didn't seem as cool after that moment.

  10. I can think of two global events that have dramatically affected me. First is the recession. Being young and trying to enter myself into the work field is very hard in these times. The economy is very bad and unemployment rates have sky rocketed. I currently have a good paying job, but I am fearful for the future because I don't know how hard it will be to get into the career that I am interested in. People that have lived through the depression had it way worse, with limited food and resources, however this is very similar to that time. It just worries me because things are becoming more expensive and the value of a dollar is going up.

Another global issue that has affected my life is war. Although I am not directly related to the war and nothing is going on nearby to me, I am constantly surrounded. I remember September 11th, I think I was in 3rd grade. Still to this day, almost graduating high school, I am still surrounded by this war. It has been a big part of my life. Our country takes prioritizes violence and war and forgets about all the other issues in our country. I just think that war is not necessary and does not need to affect so many people, including myself.

  11. Two global events that effected my life is 9/11 and the suffering economy. 9/11 is not really a global event but this event affected the whole world. It affected me because, I was born in New York and my parents lived in New York for 20 years so we have many friends in NY. After that event my parents decided to get more involved into charity and donations. 9/11 was a wake up call to us, and it reminded us to live life with less regret. Even a powerful place like the US getting attacked makes almost any country vulnerable. The tanking economy has effected me because I have to work much more now. Instead of hanging out with my friends, I have to work because jobs are very competives now. If I were to skip days and come late, I would be the first one fired. Also because of the bad economy, my family can't go on the vacations like we would like. We have to use our money wisely and can't waste it on things the aren't needed. These two global events have effected me, in both good and bad ways. These events are not good but I have learned a lot from them.

  12. One global event that has affected me is the economy, before you didn't really second guess yourself about buying things. You could go somewhere and not really think about what you're getting but since the economy went down, you really have to think about what you are buying. Now a days its hard to find a job, luckily I found one, but it's not very good hours. Everyone tells us how lucky we are to have a job that always has work. Another event that has affected me is the war, after high school, I am losing many more friends that are signing up for the war.

  13. Unemployment and school tuition increasing, both major issues in our world. Unemployment is every where and is becoming a problem for many house holds and families, and that minimum wage is not enough either to support your own self. School tuition has been raised in order for more taxes to increase, but yet people are not getting their required courses due to no room, and are having to pay for another year because they could not finish in four. These issues should not be taken as a joke because it is affecting all of us in some way.

A global event that has changed my life would have to be 9/11. The day of the terrorist attacks was a day of chaos and destruction, all of New York and the rest of the country were stricken with grief and despair with what had happen. Almost immediately after the attacks the nation increased all of its security, President George Bush deployed troops to Iraq, airports were filled with security posted around every corner, people were being racially profiled, and tons of travelers were being searched for reasons created by fear.
Airports have changed little since then, they have decreased security, and randomly search people less, but travelers are still racially profiled more than ever. Just recently over the summer I was on a flight from San Francisco to Florida, and experienced something I thought was of the past. I was in the back of the line getting ready to board a plane and the TSAs told everyone they needed to be able to produce an ID to board the flight. From the back of the line I watched every person board the plane and I noticed that the TSAs only asked to see minorities IDs. They didn't bother to ask one white person, including myself. I continued to notice there was also a Middle Eastern-American couple in front of me and the TSAs looked suspiciously at them, and in a harsh tone asked to see the couple's IDs. After double checking both of their IDs and holding up the line for a couple of minutes, they finally preceded to let the couple on the flight. I was shocked by the actions of the TSAs, the attacks were more than 8 years ago and the couple were American citizens. I understand the safety precautions airports need to take in order for flying to be safe, but if they are going check or double check IDs then they need to do that to everyone not just certain races. 9/11 has changed many Middle Eastern-American's lives and it has caused them to be racially slurred against and has made it extremely difficult for them to live in this country peacefully. My personal life has been changed because I am noticing all of this unjust behavior of people and the way they are profiling certain races because of what they think a terrorist looks like. Sad but true it has showed me how there is still racism in this day and age in America.

  15. The economy is a global event that has affected everyone including myself. Now that the economy is low we have to less to spend and when we spend we have to be smart about it to get your moneys worth. The economy has also affected the jobs that are available and making them scarce. Unemployment and low economy has made it hard for people to buy what they want and even leaving some homeless. Luckily the unemployment hasn't really affected me as much but the economy has made me think more about what to buy and for what price i can buy it for.

  16. Two issues that are effecting my everyday life as well as the lives of those around me are: increase in cost for college and the current crisis occuring in Libya. Over the years the cost of college is not lowering, but increasing. It has always been a plan of mines to attend a four-year University outside of California, but because of the recession and poor economic stability, the amount of Financial Aid being given to students isn't as much as it once was, I'm not sure if this happen. Along with the cost of college increasing, gas prices are also increasing. With other factors, the current chaos is Libya has been the cause of this. Many protest have broken out in Libya due to lack of support given to Muammar Gaddafi. As a result of the mass protest, Gaddafi has shut down oil production, which is a huge issue because Libya provides 7% of the worlds oil.

  17. Of the two global events that have had the most impact on my life, the single greatest is the civil war in china between the communists and the nationalists. A brief summary would be that after WWII has subsided, the nationalists and communists began fighting again, until the communists had pushed nationalists out of china into Taiwan. My family was part of that large migration and it is the foundation of who I am and why I’ve lived the life I’ve lived. My grandfather and grandmother had multiple children; of the surviving ones are 3 daughters. Many died due to multiple reasons, pertaining to poverty. My mother was one of said daughters, and the father was very abusive and violent, Eventually, my mother married, had children, left for America, cheated on her husband, and had me with an American man, as equally abusive to her then to the son. In essence, that global event had a impact on my life indirectly and has made me into the person I am. The second event that I could say correlates to my life would be nine/eleven, which hasn’t impacted me yet, but could possibly because had that event and declaration of war not happened, I may have not been inclined to join the marine corp. Nor, might I be sent over there to fight in the war. So that is another global event that may have and has had some small impact on my life.

  18. Two major issues that has happen to our global that effect every one is first 9/11. Now for me since I am an Arab people look at me at in a different way, 9/11 was really negative for the Arab community. But other then that nothing is affect me about that.

Second major global effect is probably the economic issue, not enough money not enough jobs and so on, it effect me because last year over the summary I was looking for a job and no luck happen no jobs available.

  19. The economy is effecting my life because I don't have a job and then I don't get money. Without a job it is harder for me to pay for my gas, insurance, phone, and food. Even though I am looking for a job it is hard to find because the economy is bad. Companies aren't hiring right now because they don't have money to spend on new employees. Because the economy when you go to the store everything is expensive money.
Another global event that is effecting me is the gangsters of El Salvador. This effects me because is where I am from and my mother and sister are still living there. The gangsters are killing people to get money, they think this is an easy way to get money. The President of El Salvador doesn't help out the citizens of his country, this is why the gangsters are killing people every day. This effects me because I am scared that my family back home will be hurt.
